Mini DIY – Our rocking chair make-over

One of our goals as a family is to live in an eco-friendly way, so when we started looking for a rocking chair for Bug’s playroom we decided not to buy a brand new one. My mom is the master of finding gems at our local hospice shop and sure enough, within a few weeks she found an old wooden rocking chair for the bargain price of R250.

We started the chair makeover by sanding down the chair and painting it a fresh white. I was tempted to go crazy and paint it yellow but decided to take a safer (and more long-term route). Once painted we cut a piece of wood that we had lying around to fit the seat area. I found two big pillows at Mr Price Home for a total of R300 to complete the chair.

I have honestly used this chair EVERY SINGLE DAY since we finished making it. It is so comfortable and the morning winter sun through the window makes it the best seat in the house.
